Year in the Life Meet Grace Gunter, a linguistics major from Mebane, North Carolina

Carolina | Class of 2017

live in the moment

"I'VE ALWAYS BEEN THE KIND OF PERSON WHO'S THINKING 'NOW I CAN GO ON TO THE NEXT THING.' BUT SOMETIMES I WISH I COULD JUST LIVE IN THE MOMENT MORE."

"I don't ever stop."

Grace will graduate as a buckley public service scholar. She will have logged

500 hours of service

BEFORE TURNING HER TASSEL.

"I know I want to be in law enforcement. That's the career goal."

"So... it's midterm week."

"it's weird to think that this is my last year walking through here."

Winter break 2017: Lima, Peru

during winter break, grace spent three weeks volunteering at a medical clinic in lima, peru, with a group called hands on peru.

"I really love Latin America.

I LOVE THE PEOPLE THERE."

"I'm not just..."

"a linguistics major. I'm not just a martial artist... i'll never be the same person that I am right now. I'm a lot of different things because I learned to step outside of my comfort zone."

"I think that's a big part of what makes me a Tar Heel."
